Flanagan & Gerard together with our partners are building a fully-fledged urban mixed use node in Thohoyandou, Limpopo. Thohoyandou is home to the country’s 5th biggest district municipality and 12th biggest local municipality by population. The node will be anchored by Thavhani Mall, a 50 000m2 regional shopping mall. In addition the urban mixed use node will be home to an office park, motorcity, private healthcare and education facilities. The precinct currently includes a library, community centre, information and cultural centres as well as a major sports stadium.
The precinct lies on the R524 which links Louis Trichardt to Giyani and Pafuri. The site has exceptional visibility and accessibility from the R524 and furthermore is adjacent to the primary crossroad with the major north road to Sibassa.
Typically, there is little space in such densely populated urban areas, and it is unusual to be able to build a regional shopping mall in such excellent proximity to the existing CBD. The trade area encompasses Thohoyandou, Ngwenani, Tshifili, Sterkstoom, Mangondi, Manamae, Maradze, Mayambe, Dzindi, Tshitungulwan and Giyani.
Thavhani Mall will be anchored by Woolworths which will include a Woolworths Food as well as Edgars, Spar and Pick n Pay.
Construction of Thavhani Mall commenced in the first quarter of 2015 and will be complete in 2017.
