Since inception in 2001, co-founders Pat Flanagan and Peter Gerard have developed a number of quality shopping centres that include Vaal Mall, Highveld Mall, Heidelberg Mall, Eyethu Orange Farm Mall and Nicolway as well as the award winning Morningside Shopping Centre, Middelburg Mall and Mall of the North in Polokwane.
Flanagan & Gerard is currently developing regional shopping centre’s which include Thavhani Mall – Thohoyandou, Springs Mall at Blue Crane Eco Park and Ballito Junction Regional Mall along with the Vaal Mall which is currently being expanded to 65,000m². Flanagan & Gerard is responsible for all aspects of the shopping centre development process that it undertakes. The company’s sole focus on retail, coupled with over 75 years of combined development experience makes Flanagan & Gerard a prosperous partner for our retail tenants and other key stakeholders.
Over the past 14 years, Flanagan & Gerard have built an enviable reputation as one of South Africa’s leading shopping centre developers and in the last decade, it has developed a significant portion of the country’s new Regional shopping centres.
Pat Flanagan and Peter Gerard met in the 1970's while cutting their teeth at Rapp & Maister, where under Michael Rapp they worked on Sandton City as well as Eastgate. In 1979 they founded RMS Syfrets, which later became Colliers RMS and together, they were responsible for the development of many of the country’s largest property investments which include Riverside Mall, Lakeside Mall, Southgate, Somerset Mall, Mimosa Mall, Northgate, and the Boardwalk in Richards Bay to name a few.
After departing from Colliers RMS in 2000, Flanagan & Gerard was founded in 2001 and has gone on to successfully develop award winning regional and high end niche community centres that have received acclaim for design and functionality. The company's core focus is to develop and invest in dominant regional shopping centres in outer lying areas, and high end niche community centres. It is with these fundamentals that Flanagan & Gerard has been able to grow into a highly respected development company in the shopping centre industry.
