Ballito Junction
The development of the Umhlanga Ridge over recent years has seen Durban expand north at a rapid pace. The relocation of King Shaka Airport has also contributed to the northerly growth along the KZN coastline. With Umhlanga being oversubscribed, Ballito has in recent times established itself as a strong permanent residential area.
In March 2017, the Ballito Junction completed its mammoth expansion from a 10 500m² community centre to an 82 000m² three level regional shopping centre. Whilst offering its customers an exciting shopping experience, the Ballito Junction Regional Mall has over 200 stores and is book ended by major anchor retailers on each level, encouraging the flow of energy throughout the mall. List of anchors include Woolworths, Pick n Pay, Checkers, Edgars, Game and a Nu-Metro cinema complex. The Ballito Junction’s transition from community centre to dominant regional mall includes straight lines, natural tones and textures complimented with natural light over three levels. All lead-ins have been designed shorter to promote shopping in the core of the centre.
The Ballito Junction Regional Mall comprises of three levels of retail serviced by five levels of structured parking. There are rights in place to expand to 92 000m² to meet future market demands.
With direct on grade access to all levels, Ballito Junction Regional Mall is ideally located on the corner of Ballito Drive and the M4 and is easily visible from the national N2 highway. The Ballito Junction acts as an interceptor to the greater regional area and its proximity to the national road allows for easy and convenient access for customers along the North-coast region.
The Ballito Junction Regional Mall is located in a market area characterized by middle to high income households of LSM 4 – 10+ in an area of high growth. This translates into a strong demand for food, fashion, homeware and entertainment as well as daily necessities. The Ballito Junction Regional Mall caters for the primary market being the residents of Ballito, Zimbali, Shaka’s Rock, Salt Rock and Simbithi. The secondary regional market consists of Stanger (24km), Tongaat (15km), Umhlali (8km), and Sheffield Beach (7km).
