Flanagan & Gerard recently partnered with Woolworths at Morningside Shopping Centre, to add something a little sweet to the Firlands Children’s Fete held on 27 August 2016.

The annual fete, which is held at the Firlands Children’s Home in Linden, saw Flanagan & Gerard donate some 288 muffins for the fete’s tea garden, while Woolworths sponsored 22 crates of various foods. These were sold on the day to help generate funds for the orphanage.

For well over 40 years, the Firlands Children’s Home has held an annual fete, attracting over 6,000 people to the event. The popular and much-loved fete, generates extra funding for the children’s home as government funding amounts to only 40% of yearly expenses.

The fete is run solely by volunteers ensuring that all funds raised on the day go directly towards the home’s operational expenses for the coming year. All goods sold are provided through donations received from both generous individuals and companies.

Besides the many bargains that were on offer, the fete provided plenty of entertainment for the whole family, with attractions that included a skydiving display, Barney the dinosaur, line dancers, jumping castles, as well as a special dog display show, by the Northcliff Alsatian and German Shepherd Club.

Firlands Children’s Orphanage have expressed their gratitude for the continued support from the community, and to both Woolworths Morningside Shopping Centre and Flanagan & Gerard for all the donations received. Firlands have confirmed that the 2016 Annual Fete has been one of the most successful to date.
